“Living in that childish wonder is a most beautiful thing– I can so well remember it. There was always something more–behind and beyond everything–to me.” This quote by Kate Greenaway is particularly meaningful to me because every time I read it, I think, Yes! To live with childish wonder certainly is a beautiful thing, a most beautiful thing! And yet it is practically absent in this world full of complaints and boredom and discontentment. I strongly appreciate the quote, because to this day–though I am an adult and am about to have a child of my own (my first!)–I still live with that childish wonder; there is still always something more, “behind and beyond everything” to me.

While my writings will not necessarily be centered around this theme of wonder, I do not doubt that my poems/essays/articles will reflect traces of this sense of fascination with the world that I live with, regardless of the topic I am writing about. However, to clarify a misconception, I must note: Although I am talking much about childish wonder, fantasy and mysticism do not appeal to me. I am very much a logical realist, and if something is irrational, unreasonable, or unjustifiable, I do not advocate it. My wonder comes from the beauty of the reality we live in, the beauty of truth. Anything I write I hope either reflects or points to truth– whether the truth be good, beautiful, sorrowful, or tragic.

With that said, I suspect that certain passions and interests of mine will be often written about in my blog. These may include theology, philosophy, eternity, living between two kingdoms, pilgrimage, and grace. I am newly married to a wonderful man who works overseas and whom I miss very much, and I do not doubt that my love for him will be written about every now and then. As I mentioned, I am also expecting my first child (due January 2018), and needless to say, this new joy occupies my mind frequently and will most likely appear in my writing as well. Yet the scope of this magnificent world is broad! And I hope to not limit myself to any topic I have mentioned, but to be open and creative with my range of subjects. I hope readers enjoy my posts, and I encourage comments and critiques from anyone with an interest to contribute.
